Benefits of Membership

We publish a newsletter three times a year (in March, August and December), providing advance information on the Festival programme, and which also acts as a forum for lively discussion.  The newsletter is posted or emailed to members, and can also be found on the News page of this site.

We organise a variety of social events (visits, meetings) throughout the year. Some are arranged in conjunction with the Cheltenham Opera Society.

There is a reception for members at each festival where you can meet the Festival organisers and the CMFS committee.

Those members who opt to become Benefactors are, in addition, named in the Festival Programme book, and will also be invited to a special Luncheon during the Festival.

But the most important benefit is knowing that you are a valued supporter of the Music Festival, and are helping it to continue as one of the country's premier Festivals.

Types of Membership and Subscription Rates

Ordinary membership costs £16 (single) or £25 (joint) per year.

Benefactor membership costs £60 (single) or £100 (joint) per year.

Young person's membership is available to those under 21 or to students, and costs £2 per year.

Life membership costs £320 (single), £500 (joint), £700 (single benefactor) or £1000 (joint benefactor)

Joining the Society

If you would like to join the Society, simply complete the Membership Application Form and return it with payment to the Treasurer (the address is on the form).

If you wish, you are welcome to email the form to us and make payment electronically, either by electronic banking or by Paypal (using the button below).

We would encourage members to pay by Standing Order.  You may either complete and post the Standing Order form to the Treasurer, or set up a SO directly with your bank.

Our membership year is the calendar year.  New members joining during or after the Festival will not be asked to renew until the end of the following year.

Membership Renewals

Renewals are due in January each year.  Members who pay by Standing Order will be renewed automatically, and should receive a membership card by post as soon as their SO has been paid.  Other Members should receive renewal information by post or email in December, but are also welcome to renew from this site.  To do this, please complete the Membership Renewal form and return it with payment to the Treasurer (the address is on the form).

If you wish, you are welcome to email the form to us and make payment electronically, either by electronic banking or by Paypal (using the button below).

Donations

We welcome donations at any time, from members or from anybody else.   Many of our members make substantial donations over and above their basic subscription - we shall be very grateful to all those who feel able to contribute.

The easiest way to donate is via Paypal (using the button below), but you might also make an electronic bank transfer to our account (Sort code 40-17-10, Account no. 41876740); or simply post a cheque (payable to 'Cheltenham Music Festival Society') to the Treasurer.

Gift Aid

As a registered charity, the Society is eligible to reclaim Gift Aid from HMRC on subscriptions and donations from UK income tax payers.  This amounts to 25% of the amount paid.  The membership and renewal forms incorporate the requisite declarations, and we would be very grateful if all those eligible would complete them.  There is also a stand-alone Gift Aid form.

Once completed, Gift Aid declarations remain valid indefinitely, until cancelled.

Our understanding of the HMRC rules is that you need to print off the relevant form and send a signed copy to us.

Email List

We would strongly encourage our Members to sign up to our email list.  You'll then be able to get information about coming events and Festival news, without having to wait for our next regular Newsletter.

Legacies

Please consider the Cheltenham Music Festival Society as a beneficiary of your will. Legacies are especially important in supporting our long term committment to musical education. You can read more, and download codicil forms, by clicking here.
